Hilton Hotels are very popular hotel destinations across the world and consumers can earn reward points for their stays at hotels which will earn them Hilton Honor Points. Up until recently, Citi Bank provided Hilton Honors Credit Cards for customers. There were two main cards featured by Citi – The Citi Hilton Honors Card and the Citi Hilton Honors Reserve Card. These two cards will soon be converted from Citi to American Express cards and will be Hilton Honors Amex Card and the Hilton Honors Amex Ascend Card respectively.
What Do Citi Bank Hilton Honors Customers Need To Know About The Coming Transfer?
- No action will be required until you receive your new card
- Your new card will be available for use on January 30th, 2018
- Consumers can continue to use their Citi Card until they receive their new card
- Cardholders will continue to earn points in the meantime
- Payment information will need to be updated once your account transfer has been completed
The new cards provided by American Express will have many ways for consumers to earn Hilton Honors Points. Cardholders will receive 7x (12x for Ascend Card) points for hotel purchases in the Hilton portfolio, 5x (6x points for Ascend Card) points for purchases at supermarkets, gas stations, and restaurants, and 3x (both cards) for all other purchases. Cardholders with the Amex Hilton Honors Card will receive instant Silver Status with Hilton Honors and Ascend cardholders will enjoy instant gold level status.
Citi Bank Hilton Honors customers can expect to find their new cards arrive by mail sometime in the middle of January of 2018. Once their card arrives, they can set up their online account with American Express and customize their account preferences and settings. Beginning on January 30th, 2018 their account will be transferred and they can begin using their new card once they have completed the activation process.
